Without leaving Bordeaux

BAR A VIN du CIVB – opposite from the tourist office

The best quality/price ratio in a wine bar. Sommeliers have the mission of introducing you to Bordeaux wines, because it is also an institutional promotion tool for Bordeaux wines.

LA MAISON DU VIN – CIVB – Bordeaux Tramway B “Quinconces”

The Maison du vin, also called CIVB (the interprofessional Bordeaux wine association), offers courses ranging from “discovery level” to ‘professional training’ for restaurateurs.

The +: Located near Tram A, it is the  easiest Bordeaux vineyard to access from Bordeaux without taking the train or car. It also hosts a wine school . You will find a shop and the possibility of visiting:

visite@luchey-halde.com or on https://www.ruedesvignerons.com/fr/domaine/297/chateau-luchey-halde

PAPE CLEMENT – Pessac Leognan

Château Pape Clément - Rue des Vignerons

Réservation via le site Rue des Vignerons

The +: the “Sleeping Beauty” castle according to our children when they were younger. The luxury of the decoration and the resources dedicated to the renovation of the whole make it a castle for special occasions (rooms for events and weddings).

CHATEAU HAUT BRION

In 1521, Haut-Brion became the first Bordeaux growth designated by the name of its terroir, and no longer by that of its owner or its parish, making the property the first Grand Vin in the world and leading it to obtain the rare distinction of Premier Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification, the only growth outside the Médoc to be included in this prestigious classification.

Château Haut Brion is located a 5-minute drive from La Maison Bleue Guest House.

MISSION HAUT BRION

Located just opposite Chateau Haut Brion, we often pass by it, and for us it is the most charming of the castles very close to the house.

An elegant building with a cloister gallery: undeniable charm and more than 4 centuries of know-how in this region between Talence and Pessac.

Dans le Médoc

To get to the Médoc, allow 1h15-1h30 by car or train (line 42, a train every hour stopping at Margaux, Moulis and Paulliac). The châteaux there are generally more ostentatious than those of Pessac Léognan or St Emilionnais and it is the cradle of the “Grand cru classé” appellations of 1855.

Agencies offer transport and visits along the wine route: For example, this one which leaves from Bordeaux in front of the tourist office https://www.ruedesvignerons.com/fr/activite/3503/apres-midi-excursion-dans-le-medoc-depuis-bordeaux

CHATEAU CHASSE SPLEEN

Château Chasse-Spleen - Rue des Vignerons

Château Chasse-Spleen is a prestigious wine estate in the Bordeaux vineyard, classified in 1932 as Cru Exceptionnel in the smallest appellation of the Médoc, Moulis-en Médoc.
Its magical name is probably the result of discussions around 1860 between Rosa Ferrière, the mistress of the place and her neighbor, Odilon Redon, a renowned symbolist painter. He, in fact, illustrated Charles Baudelaire’s Les Fleurs du Mal, which we know he made a copyright of spleen.

An area displaying contemporary art and local discovery with literary and poetic accents.

CHATEAU HOURTIN-DUCASSE
