Where to eat on the Atlantic coast

Here are a few more of our favourite places…

Where to eat on the Arcachon Bay?

In Arcachon city

Arcachon is very touristy so it’s not easy to find a restaurant…Dare I mention one or two names…? nope!

Well…come on…: Le pique assiette , chez pierre , Diego , Chez Yvette …with all due reserves…

Also a cheap, easy, and good option la Crèperie  : La cabane du Breton

Pereire Beach

CLUB PLAGE PEREIRE

Déjeuner les pieds dans le sable au club plage Pereire

The cuisine is simple but the setting is a joy in early or late season. A bit too trendy and crowded in high season. Book in May, June and September. Closed in winter.

The +: ice bucket with a bottle of white or rosé chilled to perfection, feet in the sand with a view of Cap Ferret and the setting sun. Magical moments!

In the Moulleau

L’OUBLI

Moulleau restaurant-bar. Very good value for money.PhotoLE JARDIN

Gault et Millau. Reservations only by telephone on +33 5 56 54 23 61restaurant.jpg

In Gujan-Mestras

THE PORT OF LARROS IN GUJAN MESTRAS.

A group of oyster farmers’ huts between Arcachon (visit the “winter town”) and Le Teich (bird reserve to visit)

L’HUITRE PAPILLON ON THE PORT OF LARROS

Producer’s cabin, oysters, white or rosé and pâté (yes, here in the area, we eat oysters with sausages, or pâté, … or crépinettes (local tradition for winter Xmas season)!

Where to eat at the Arcachon Bay : Cap Ferret side

At Cap Ferret

AT HORTENSE’S

At the tip, view of the Pilat

Formerly located at the tip of the Cap. With the retreat of the coastline, the restaurant run for 4 generations since the famous Hortense, has long since taken up residence at 26 Av. du Sémaphore, 33970 Lège-Cap-Ferret. Reservations recommended: +33 556606256. A Cap institution.

The +: the freshness, the view of the Pilat dune opposite like a big Norwegian omelette.

At the Jetty of the boat from Arcachon. Belisaire Jetty

location, location… location

THE PINASSE CAFE

Fish and shellfish

Their slogan: “Our competitor: paradise”

LA CANFOUINE AU CANON

On the Cap Ferret coast, it’s an authentic yet stylish oyster shack.

The authentic Cap FERRET, a much improved oyster farmer’s hut.

Oyster tasting with a view of the Arcachon Bay
Our table at La Canfouine

The +: pontoon to arrive by boat, a terrace with large cushions facing the pool, seafood and fresh and mineral wines. An excellent memory. And when you go there, you can take the opportunity to walk through the alleys between the fishermen’s and oyster farmers’ huts. The Cap Ferret that we love. “To live happily, let’s live hidden”

ALSO: La Cabane du Mimbeau , at Magne

LA MAISON DU BASSIN Restaurant

Master restaurateur: which means everything homemade. Excellent if we judge by our experience. Memory of a superb dessert buffet, incredible variety when we know the work behind it. But when there is no more, it is over! This is also what homemade food is, a victim of its success! Recommended.

AT RICARDO’S

Restaurant at the Canon

At Canon, a pizzeria that will suit you and your children. We have been going there for several years. Nothing to say except to come back.

Where to have a drink, or dinner by the lakes

Lacanau Lake

CABIN N°1

Photo

Our secret spot for sipping while reading in the shade of the pines. A refreshment bar with small catering on the port of Lacanau city. Peace and quiet guaranteed.

Cazaux Lake

LA CABANE DU LAC

Photo

The place is quiet facing the lake. With garlands of multi-colored bulbs. Welcome according to the lunar month of the owner, in general it is a good evening. A place to go with the children to let them splash around on the beach while you enjoy a tête-à-tête in the moonlight …😉

AT JULIETTE’S

Where to go on the Atlantic coast?

SOMEWHERE ON THE ATLANTIC COAST

Our holiday spot, but shhhhh. It’s a secret. Total relaxation.

Avec de la chance ...
With a bit of luck…

However there are many places on the Atlantic coast where you can enjoy the following:

+ The  forest all around and the ocean only 500m away, the squirrels and deers when you wake up in the early morning. The ocean and the infinite deserted sand beaches. No-one around to see you’ve gained a few pounds over Christmas!

L’ASSIETTE AT LACANAU OCEAN SEA VIEW

L'assitte: the best value for money in Lacanau. Where to go to enjoy a direct view of the Atlantic coast...

Our summer “canteen” for years. A cuisine with sometimes African accents, the dish of the day is worth the detour. Regulars and locals, surfers addicted to the wave and the little white aperitif: I shouldn’t leave the address on the internet… Only bring true friends. No fuss. The +: the best value for money in Lacanau, with a view of the ocean and its sunset every evening. The owner is adorable. It’s good. It sounds like summer evenings to us.

UPDATE: It has just changed owners and our last experience was… different. So, I’ll leave the address and will keep you informed.
